Kern Lasers History

laser cutting machine

Kern Electronics & Lasers, Inc. was established in 1982 by Gerald Kern, with the main objective to design and manufacture top quality industrial laser cutting and laser engraving machines to meet demanding production schedules.

With the company headquarters located in the beautiful lakes country of Minnesota, the facility consists of a modern 20,000 sq. ft. building with 25 full time employees. Our vision is to build laser systems that will fit the customer's needs, at an affordable price, with the versatility to suit a variety of industries.

Kern Electronics & Lasers, Inc. started by supplying a motion system for the existing computerized rotary engraving machines that would allow them to use software like CorelDraw.

As the sealed CO2 lasers became available, Kern incorporated the motion and the laser together developing larger table sizes for full stock sheets of material and installed larger lasers to cut faster and thicker materials.

Our KCAM software was introduced in the beginning and has periodically been upgraded to meet the changing needs of the customers and the materials being cut. KCAM has complete control of the motion of the table and the laser power. KCAM has grown into a state-of-the-art laser software that is setting the standard in the laser cutting and engraving industry.
