Stainless Steel Cutting
The 400W laser can cut up to .080" stainless steel with the help of a nitrogen assist gas. The result is a shiny, smooth and dross free cut like shown in the top picture below. An oxygen assist gas may also be used to cut up to .125" stainless steel. However, a dark oxidized cut edge and slight dross on the backside will occur.
The entry level laser for metal cutting is the 150W laser. This laser will cut up to .075" stainless steel with the help of an oxygen air assist.
Stainless Steel Etching
Stainless steel can be etched dark with a Kern Laser System. Use of an assist gas or marking spray is required to mark stainless steel. The piece below was etched with oxygen injected through the nozzle. After the etching is completed the machine will cut the outline of your stainless steel product.
