Stainless Steel Cutting
Kern's metal cutting machines will cut up to 1/8" stainless steel. Oxygen assist through the high pressure optics nozzle, is needed to initiate the cut and will result in a smooth cut edge. The second picture below shows the different edge colors obtained by using different assist gases. From left to right the gases used were oxygen, shop air and nitrogen. Kern's metal cutting technology can be added to every Kern laser system with 150 watts or more and will instantly become the most versatile machine in your shop.
Stainless Steel Etching
Stainless Steel can be etched dark with a Kern Laser System. This piece was done without any marking spray. Simply, just hook up oxygen to the quick connect at the back of the laser system and begin etching beautiful dark images. When you are done etching your Kern laser system will then cut out the outline of your stainless steel piece.
